National numbering agencies are beginning to standardize the way they describe financial instruments issued in their home markets.
Telekurs in Switzerland, WM Datenservice in Germany, the London Stock Exchange (LSE) and the U.S. Cusip Service Bureau all say they have begun or will soon start implementing the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 18774 standard and the interdependent ISO 18773. Sources say that Comision Nacional de Valores in Spain and the Italian Banca d'Italia are already using the standards.
