A New Era for SWX Europe

London-based SWX Europe's recent name change is a sign of things to come, according to CEO Lee Hodgkinson. The switch, from virt-x, was not just a branding move for the leading venue for Swiss blue-chip stocks, says Hodgkinson, but part of a larger effort to adapt to a fluid European trading landscape.

When SWX Europe appointed Mark Ryland, former global head of equities information technology at HSBC, as COO last month, Hodgkinson took the opportunity to state that the exchange's new moniker "not only reflects the essence of our core business in Swiss blue-chip equities but also the revitalization of our trading offering."
