Vhayu Technologies Corp. has released a new version of its Velocity tick-data analysis software that will allow quantitative researchers to more quickly evaluate large amounts of data when developing complex trading strategies. Velocity users already capture streams of market data, analyze them in real time and store them for later use, but to do so for quantitative analysis requires clients to license third-party statistical packages for which Velocity provides adapters.
Unlike the enterprise version, the new system--Velocity for Quantitative Research (VFQR)--can be run on a single workstation and, for analysis, relies on the open-source R language, which is commonly used by financial engineers and has no licensing fee. It also has a large repository of shared analytics users can borrow to speed up development cycles.
