HSBC, Computershare Launch Vote Confirmation Service

HSBC Securities Services (HSS) and global stock transfer agent Computershare have introduced a voting confirmation service in the U.K. to ensure that shareholder votes are recorded accurately with registrars and that investors who have forgotten to vote are notified to do so.

HSS, the custody arm of HSBC Bank, compares Computershare's record of votes with all the shares that HSS holds for its clients. The custodian then checks the votes it has captured--and those captured by its proxy voting agent, Broadridge Financial Solutions--to ensure that Computershare has the correct votes. The verification process enables HSS to identify shareholders who may have overlooked the opportunity to vote.
